so it's already been three weeks since i've been here in munich. and i have to say that i miss home and all the people i left behind quite a lot. half of my weekends i spend at home, always glad to see my family and friends. the other half of my weekends i stay in munich and try to use all of my time exploring new corners – or looking back into the past: this weekend i made a big tour around the town, walked through haidhausen and the glockenbach viertel, where i lived during my last stay, visited all the places that i know and that feel familiar to me. as spring is on its way i found bloomig trees all couloured in pink or white everywhere i went. such a relieve for someone not accustomed to being surrounded by plaster and grey business buildings...

museum of egyptian art

there's no better way to spend a cold and rainy day than in a museum. this time: the museum of egyptian art with its completely subterranean exhibition grounds located under munich's film school. the perfect refuge on this utterly grey sunday...

goodbye (for a while)

like i said in my last post... changes are about to come. i will leave home for a while as my new job starts on monday. in munich. i'm truly looking forward to meeting up with all the people down there, to see how munich awakens during spring and summer, to visit all the spots i discovered throughout my stays in the past, to drink fresh beer at the isar or in a 'biergarten' after work is done, and to go for swims again at my beloved 'volksbad'.
but of course it's not easy to let go of my life here at home, so i spend the last few days saying goodbye to my friends and enjoy the first sunbeams of this spring by going for walks till the sun goes down...

changes

i am so sorry that i didn't write during the past few weeks. life is going on so fast and there are so many things on my mind... i didn't make time to go out and grasp what is going on around me by taking photographs – and i really missed it... missed the feeling to just focus on what's right in front of me, forgetting everything else, creating memories. well, here are some of my latest ones...
see you soon,
susanne

up on the mountain

once again: happy new year everyone! i hope you had a lovely time back then at new year's eve.
like i already told you i was staying at a friend's holiday cottage not so far away from where me and my friends live. the house is about 250 years old (as far as i can remember) and has belonged to my friend's family for ages. they restored and refurnished it 20 years ago and since then it looks and feels like a cosy french country house. it sits on top of a mountain next to an ancient castle ruin and is surrounded by coniferous woods. as soon as you step inside you feel at home... and the view is quite breathtaking. i especially enjoyed the spectecular sunsets every evening. we were a small group of people and spent our days with walking through the woods, cooking, climbing the castle's tower (i didn't make it quite to the top because i'm simply too short...), playing games, drinking lots of fennel tea and chatting in the evening. we welcomed the new year in a very calm and quiet way, looking down to the valley below that enchanted us with a colourful firework!
